Barack Obama is close to revealing plan for Middle East peace
The Obama Administration is close to presenting its plan for peace in the Middle East to Israel and the Palestinians, senior officials said yesterday.
No details were released, although it is thought that the plan is based on an Arab initiative whereby Israel would gain recognition from the Arab world in return for the creation of a Palestinian state.
Differences still persist between both sides, focusing on control of Jerusalem, the right of millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendents to return to the country and the issue of Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
It is thought that the plan will have a broader regional approach than previous peace efforts, and will include the participation of Syria, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Lebanon.

aim to agree arms cuts by December
MOSCOW, August 4 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian and U.S. presidents reaffirmed in a telephone conversation on Tuesday their commitment to drawing up a new strategic arms reduction pact by December, the Kremlin said.
Presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Barack Obama "agreed to give additional instructions to experts on intensifying work, to reach a constructive decision by December" on replacing the START 1 treaty on strategic weapons reduction, the Kremlin press service said.
They also agreed to "continue a trusting and honest exchange of opinions and assessments on all problems of interest to both sides," the statement said.
Russian and U.S. military experts met on July 22-24 in Geneva for the latest round of talks on a new treaty to replace START 1, which expires at the end of December. The sides agreed to hold the next round of negotiations in early September.

A White House official who was in the lunch tells POLITICO: "The
President discussed how the current tone and culture in Washington made
it more difficult than it has been in the past to work in a bipartisan
fashion. In particular, he singled out Republican Senators who are trying
to work in a bipartisan fashion even in the context of a vocal minority
in their party who doubt that the President was born in the US. In this
context about the less productive tone of the debate in Washington, he
said he didn’t like to see 'left wing groups attack fellow Democrats.'"
Russia outwitted U.S. strategic defenses with missile test
MOSCOW, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - The United States was unable to detect the presence of Russian strategic submarines in the Arctic before they test-launched two ballistic missiles, a Russian intelligence source said on Wednesday.
Russia carried out test launches of two Sineva intercontinental ballistic missiles from two Delta IV class nuclear-powered submarines, located near the North Pole, on July 13-14.
"The American radars certainly detected the missile launches but their location took them by surprise," the source said.
The first missile, flying a ballistic path, hit its designated target at the Kura testing grounds on the Kamchatka Peninsula, while the second, fired with a flat trajectory, destroyed a target at the Chizha testing site on the White Sea.
The source said that the launch area, covered by ice floe, was heavily patrolled by Russian attack submarines and the Americans were unable to detect the arrival of two strategic submarines before the launch.
"At the same time, U.S. reconnaissance satellites are unable to detect submarines under thick ice floe in the Arctic," he said.
The region around the North Pole is a perfect place for launches of ballistic missiles because it allows the submarines to arrive in a designated area undetected and to shorten the missile flight time to the target.
The RSM-54 Sineva (NATO designation SS-N-23 Skiff) is a third-generation liquid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile that entered service with the Russian Navy in July 2007. It can carry four or 10 nuclear warheads, depending on the modification.
Russia plans to equip its Delta IV class submarines with at least 100 Sineva missiles.

CIA launches recruitment drive on internet and TV
The CIA is attempting to recruit more spies by advertising on the internet, radio and television, and by holding meetings with American Muslims to make up a severe shortage of Arabic speakers.
Leon Panetta, the new CIA director, will meet Muslim groups in cities such as Detroit to spearhead personally the new drive to recruit Arabic speakers. He recently lamented the fact that only 13 per cent of CIA officers speak a foreign language, and just 22 per cent come from minorities.
"In order to accomplish our vital intelligence mission we want to market our employment opportunities to speakers of Arabic, Russian, Korean, Pashtu and Urdu," George Little, a CIA spokesman, told The Times.

Congress is giving away Trillions of Dollars of money that doesn't even exist until it is printed or borrowed from China. Banks are being Nationalized by the Federallies. Then that re-occurring dream keeps coming back. National Health Care. More money we don’t have. Bailouts of Corporate Giants. The Auto Makers. Investment Brokers going to jail. Were going to withdraw the troops. But oh let’s send them to Afghanistan on the way home. We have a messiah like figure that won the election in my dream. He keeps talking like he needs some change or something. But something about he won’t show a birth certificate and his real name is Barry Soetoro??? But it’s like when your trying to run in a dream and you aren’t getting anywhere. The Supreme Court Justices don’t care about the Birth Certificate because in my dream they are smoking Afghanistan Hash. Maybe that’s why the troops are going there on the way home. You know how when your having a dream like this and you can tell even before you wake up that it's is only a dream? Mommy I had a really bad dream.
